Our Petrol Station

On 1st November 2017 UDCP Ltd took over the lease of the Dale Head Garage in Hawes. This is an essential service for the local community and is regarded as a key facility supporting the local economy. 

Because of its location the garage receives a 5p per litre rebate on the fuel it buys. This is taken into account in setting the pump prices that are charged. The Directors believe this approach ensures the prices are both fair and competitive. 

The aim is to strike a balance between fair prices and making a modest surplus that helps cover the costs of the other important services that UDCP Ltd provides for the community . 

In late 2021 the Board of Directors of UDCP Ltd authorised the creation of a Steering Group to pursue the option  of a community purchase of  Dale Head Garage.

With assistance from The Plunkett Foundation, the 

Dales Head Community Benefit Society was established in June 2022 and local residents were invited to invest in shares in order to purchase Dale Head Garage. We also gratefully received two grants, one from Richmonsdshire District Council, and one from the Yorkshire Dales National park Authority.

With tremendous support from our community, the target of £380,000 was raised and the purchase of Dale Head Garage was completed on 23rd August 2023.
